Greetings sports fanatics! Today the Quakertown Blazers hosted the New Brunswick Matrix in a DH. The Blazers won game 1 by the final score of 9-3 thanks to the strong pitching effort of
Eddie Olsen of Moravian and
Malachi Duka of Lebanon Valley. But the biggest storyline was
Owen Petrich of Delaware breaking Pat Kelly’s record for most HRs in a season with his 12th in a season!
Game 2 was a pitchers duel between
Cody Barberio of West Chester and
Tyler Tilton of Siena.
The Matrix got the scoring started in the 1st when
Jacob Veczko of Dayton hit a single to score
Christian Petrillo of Middlesex CC.
The Blazers would tie the game in the bottom of the 4th when
Eric Shandler of UMBC hit a groundout to score
Tommy Faggioni of Alvernia.
The Blazers would take the lead for good when
Sean Szestowicki of West Chester hit a double to score
RJ Huth of Chestnut Hill to cap the scoring at 2-1.
Barberio and
Tom McLaughlin of Franklin and Marshall combine for throw for 6 hitless innings after Cody gave up 3 in the 1st.
The sweep clinched the regular season Wolff Division title for the Blazers!
Barberio stated after the game it is a privilege to play for this years team.
